 Meet the CrossGlobal Link Staff

 

 

Marvin Newell

Executive Director

Marv has been director of CrossGlobal Link since 2007. He and Peggy served as missionaries for 15 years in Indonesia where his main responsibility was teaching and administration at the national Bible College. Before assuming leadership of CrossGlobal Link, Marv served as Asia-Pacific Regional Director with TEAM for 6 years, and then Professor of Missions and Intercultural Studies at the Moody Graduate School for 8 years. Marv has a Doctor of Missiology degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and is the author of A Martyr’s Grace (Moody Publishers, 2006) and Commissioned: What Jesus Wants You to Know as You Go (ChurchSmart Resources, 2010). 

 

 

 

 

 Peggy Newell

Executive Assistant

Peggy grew up in New Jersey then attended Moody Bible Institute in the 70s, completing her B.S. in 2003. Marv and Peggy served 15 years at a Bible College with TEAM on the island of Papua (Irian Jaya), where she taught women & children’s classes and English to the students. She also organized  and oversaw the library and was the college bookkeeperr, until training nationals to move into these positions. Upon return to the U.S. Peggy worked part time at a few administrative positions while the Newell children completed their education. Most recently she worked for ChurchSmart Resources before coming to CrossGlobal Link in the fall of 2006. The Newells have four children (Nate, Rebekah, Aaron and Phil) and five grandchildren.

 

 

 

 

 

Monnie Brewer

Director of Church Connections

Monnie has had a long and distinguished career in church and mission. For 20 years he served as the missions pastor at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA. From 1990-1994 he was the mission pastor at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue, WA. Then, from 1994-2006, he was Global Ministries Pastor at Crystal Evangelical Free Church in Minneapolis, MN. With traveling experience to over 130 countries, having held the position as President of the National Association of Missions Pastors (NAMP) and with a Doctor of Missiology degree, Monnie has seen missions in a wide variety of settings. In 2008 he came on staff with CrossGlobal Link for the purpose of intentionally serving local churches by connecting them with our association. Monnie and his wife Joanie have three children (Melissa, Jeff and Mindy) and four grandchildren.

 

 

 

 

 

Eldon Porter

Consultant for Global Connections

Eldon was raised in Nigeria where his parents served as missionaries with SIM. He studied at Oak Hills Bible Institute, where he met his wife Becky, and then continued his schooling at Bryan College. He went on to earn his ThM degree at Dallas Theological Seminary. Eldon and Becky joined SIM in 1982 and served for 23 years in Bolivia. Then from 2005 until June 2009, Eldon served in the SIM International office, Fort Mills, SC as the Deputy International Director for the Americas. Eldon joined CrossGlobal Link in June 2009. His role is to assist CrossGlobal Link members as they seek to forge strategic connections, partnerships and agreements with organizations outside of North America. The Porters have four children (Anna, Nathan, Jacob, and Eva).
